An Alderman is a non-partisan political representative. An Alderman serves as an elected representative of the members of his/her ward. The Board of Mayor and Aldermen (BOMA) enacts ordinances and serves on committees as appointed by the Mayor. Committees study various issues and make recommendations to the full Board. An Alderman is similar to a City Council member. There are 4 At-Large Aldermen that represent the city of Franklin in its entirety and 4 separate Ward Aldermen representing Wards.
